To add multiple carets, press and hold Shift+Alt and then either click at the desired positions, or press Up or Down to add carets above or below the current line.

You can then press Left and Right while holding down the Shift+Alt keys to select multiple text fragments.

Press &shortcut:EditorEscape; to remove all additional carets except the most recently added one.
